ChatGPT - The Latest Phenomenon In The World

The latest and the most trending news in the tech world and outside has to be ChatGPT which became a global phenomenon. Many people got curious and were quick to try it out while others were apprehensive as the fear of an AI bot rose within.

Launched in November 2022, ChatGPT, the latest phenomenon, has gained immense popularity in the world, within no time. It has managed to garner both positive and negative feedback, with some people finding it helpful in their respective fields, while others straight out deeming it as world-ending AI, thanks to the heavy influence of our pop culture content. For now, we are not sure what the future holds for ChatGPT, but let us try and understand more about it in detail.

What Is ChatGPT?

According to ChatGPT itself, ‘it is a language model created by OpenAI. It is based on the GPT-3.5 architecture, which stands for “Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3.5”. This architecture is designed to understand and generate natural language, which means it can read and analyze large amounts of text data and generate responses that are similar in style and content to human language.’

In simple terms, ChatGPT is an AI-based language model, which is designed in a way that it can understand, read, and analyze text data in large amounts and create responses that seem human-like.

ChatGPT Vs Google Search

ChatGPT is a powerful tool designed to process any input given by a human being that understands human language nuances like idioms, sarcasm, cultural references, or anything and everything under the sun. It is capable enough to process any language and respond in the same if asked. It is quite versatile and is capable to answer questions on a wide range of topics like technology, history, science, culture, music, pop culture, etc.

Due to its wide popularity, simpler algorithm, and human-like conversation, it is preferred over Google to find any information in a quick time. ChatGPT is seen as a big threat to Google Search which has been an immovable force for a very long time. But it does not look like it will happen anytime soon. As ChatGPT has got its own set of limitations, it must undergo a lot of upgrades and innovations to dethrone something big like Google Search.

ChatGPT Limitations

Although ChatGPT has been a phenomenon and has changed many industries with its arrival, there are a few limitations that are stopping ChatGPT to become the next big thing. Such as:

  1. For now, the only way we can interact with ChatGPT is through text messages. This is one of the biggest limitations it has which is restricting its growth.
  2. ChatGPT cannot fully comprehend human emotions and feelings. Since it does not have the capability to fully understand human emotions, it may not understand a particular context through the text, or pick up cues or different human language tones.
  3. ChatGPT’s knowledge cutoff is September 2021, and it does not have any access to real-time information nor it is programmed to get real-time updates.
  4. While it is designed in a way where its interaction is human-like, it cannot produce a real human conversation.
  5. It completely relies on the data and programming used to train it and hence its functionality is limited to a certain point and can be biased.

Conclusion

ChatGPT is definitely a huge step into the future of AI. Although, it has a few limitations, with time, and based on responses and feedback from people, ChatGPT is bound to become a force to reckon with.
